For decades now, I have tried to integrate words or poetry into my paintings. I tend to try, get discouraged, give up for a while and then try again. I have recently been writing a lot of poetry, so I really want to put the words in a painting and do it in a way where the words and images influence each other and belong together. This painting, Blue Olga, started with a life drawing of a model I did yesterday, I then wrote the brief poem (see below) and built a painting around the words and drawing.
Blue Olga
Olga appears lightly blue
the lines that
describe her contours
leave mostly empty space
奥尔加带淡淡蓝意
描绘她轮廓的线条
留下大多空白处
虚实间分明精彩
